Harlan IV program

The Harlan IV symposium program is currently under development.

The HarlanIV symposium will be held in conjunction with TropAg conference, the world’s premier agriculture and food conference.  TropAg and HarlanIV will be held at the Brisbane Conference and Exhibition Centre between Monday 31 October 2022 and Wednesday 2 November 2022.

Program outline

The TropAg conference will host four plenary sessions during the three day conference.  Six symposia sessions (including HarlanIq) will be held concurrently outside of the TropAg plenary sessions. All delegates will come together for social functions held each evening.

HarlanIV delegates will attend TropAg coordinated social events each evening including:
Welcome Reception on Monday 31 October
Conference Dinner on Tuesday 1 November
Closing Ceremony with award presentations on Wednesday 2 November 2022.
These events will be an opportunity for delegates attending both Harlan IV and TropAg to come together to network and enjoy Australian hospitality.

If you are interested in being invited to present during the Harlan IV symposium please contact the secretariat: TropAgHarlan@expertevents.com.au

VIEW DESCRIPTION ABOUT EACH THEME

Symposium format

Each symposium will run for two hours and incorporate up to six speakers. We request that in your initial symposium submission you nominate five speakers only as it is highly desirable that the sixth speaker is selected from the approved abstracts accepted for the conference. This abstract speaker may be a senior high quality scientific researcher, an HDR student, or an early to mid-career researcher. Abstract submission closes on Tuesday 31 May and successful symposium applicants will have access to review and select from the abstract submissions from Monday 6 June.

Five symposium speakers can be from any origin and may include a TropAg or Harlan keynote speaker. Please note a keynote speaker may present only one symposium address.

As a guide, the symposium session should consist of a chairperson briefly introducing the topic and introducing the session. This is to be followed by five speakers, each with an allotted presentation time of 15 minutes and an abstract author with an allotted presentation time of 10 minutes. Each speaker will have up to five minutes to allow audience members to ask questions and for an exchange of views.

Conference registration and travel expenses

If your proposal is successful the symposium applicant, chairperson and speakers will be requested to register for the conference and pay the appropriate registration fee. Full conference and single day registrations will be available via the on-line registration portal. The symposium applicant, chairperson and speakers need to also fund their own travel expenses.
